Lives In Oakdale
I've been in Portland since 2004, and after getting so much from this unique community I've spent my days looking for ways to give back. I joined SLAP to have a creative outlet at the same time. Being a part of a group of incredibly strong women has been one of the greatest things I've ever had the pleasure of doing.
This city is full of these opportunities, and I'm more than happy to be a part of expanding any I can. Add in great food and amazing local brews, and I'm hard pressed to leave.
Why did you choose Portland? I spent my whole childhood in Southern Maine, where Portland was always "the city". I had my own passing rendezvous here and there, but it wasn't until I arrived that I realized what makes it special; it's this ding dang diddly community that makes you feel like you are a flesh and blood PART of the city.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? My happiest place is the Western Prom at sunset. Many a day has ended with a quick fifteen minutes watching the light fade out. This is why I highly suggest always having a blanket packed in your car.
What's the most surprising thing about this city? It has everything. Music, food, art, and philanthropy up the bunghole.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Greendrinks, hands down. A networking event that happens the second Tuesday of every month, where you 'bring your own vessel' and pay $5 to drink local beer and chat about whatever charity they are supporting. And everyone seems to go.
