Samantha Hayslip is a Maine native, born of D.C. transplants and feels that now she can put her roots down in her home state.

Samantha graduated from University of Southern Maine with her B.A. in Studio Art and concentrated in drawing, Her style is line heavy with muted colors progressing from earlier, mostly grayscale academic work and oil paintings. New work consists of jewelry and pieces including semi-precious stones.  She garners inspiration from her life experiences, human emotion and her surroundings.

Why did you choose Portland? I love Portland, I have lived elsewhere and this city is just right!

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I love bringing them to the Old Port and to our pubs and restaurants. First Fridays and dinner or a show is always a great combo if the dates line up.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? A half order of Spicy Redneck wings from Binga's. (and deep fried pickles for an appetizer!)

What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? The Bourbon old fashioned that they make at the Armory is amazing....
