Molly Steinmetz

Maker of things and purveyor of sass.

Job Freelance Illustrator

Lives In Downtown Arts District

Molly Steinmetz is a freelance illustrator currently based in Portland, ME. Her work is often lighthearted and cute with a snarky sense of humor and a feminist touch. Working both traditionally and digitally, she enjoys creating illustrations that can be used in a variety of ways, whether it's hanging on a wall as a print, or worn on a jacket as a patch or button. When she's not making art, Molly can be found at her day job working for an art supply store, hanging out at a rock show, or looking at pictures of dogs on the internet.

Why did you choose Portland? Coming from a landlocked small town in PA, the allure of going to art school in a seaside artsy city like Portland was particularly dazzling. Once I got here, it was the creativity and diversity that is so deeply ingrained in the culture and history of the city that got me totally hooked.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Sitting on the benches on Maine State Pier watching the ferries roll in and out, or with a blanket and library book in the grass on the Western Prom.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? I have dreams about chocolate orange mousse pie at Green Elephant!

Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. Dinner at Salvage, seeing our friends' bands at the Apohadion, breakfast at Silly's.

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Pinecone + Chickadee!
