Lives In Brownfield

Lloyd Metcalf is a life-long “doodler” and dreamer that rebelled against societal standards and norms, insisting that there had to be a better way. The gaming world is where things started to make sense for him as an illustrator, then a writer, then a designer. Life has now come around to incorporating fine arts and experimental projects for an artist who is always getting out of the comfort zone.

Why did you choose Portland? The arts background and memories of the feel of the city since the 1980s.

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? Joie Grandbois of Dark Follies. A true creative spirit of the city.

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? Susan's Fish & Chips, then Plague.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Dark Follies events.

What's the most surprising thing about this city? The Waterfront and how the wildlife has adapted to us... mostly.

Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. Tea in one of the many coffee houses, followed by the same the next day.
