Lives In West End
I'm a musician (guitar/strings, percussion, drums, piano), capoeirista, and arts educator from Portland, OR who spent the last year living, gigging, and teaching in New York City. I’m now settled down in Portland, Maine!
When I'm not gigging, teaching, or training, I love to backpack, play outside, and enjoy some delicious food and a microbrew!
Why did you choose Portland? My girlfriend's from here. Quality of life is unbeatable.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why? Immigrants and refugees. This country has been built on immigrants from time immemorial, it continues to be enriched by cultural intersections, melding, and innovation.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? Hmmm, wherever there's a good book, local food and/or beverage, live music, or dancing!
What's the most surprising thing about this city? Hidden communities. There are tons of micro-niche communities that I keep stumbling into.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Microbrew (Battery Steele, Definitive)
What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? Immigrant markets ('asian' or 'arabic' or...)
Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. Dinner with friends in one of our houses, followed by a walk and some dancing or a jam; morning after: espresso, a walk, and maybe some beach time.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Everywhere, Portland's wicked interconnected.
I collaborate with students, staff, faculty, and the community to make and keep USM environmentally sustainable
