Benjamin Row

Acting for a Better World

Job Actor of Film, Stage and Voice / Nationally

Lives In The East End

Originally from Boston, Benjamin is a Maine based actor with training in classic performance, improvisation, vocal performance, and film performance. He currently works the New England stage and indie film circuit, with a strong focus in web-based content.

He also intermittently tours the country with Speak About It, a Portland based non-profit, that is delivering a strong message to incoming college freshman and outgoing high-school seniors: consent is sexy.

Benjamin also works in Business Development for Apple, Inc.

Why did you choose Portland? It's the next big spot. I've left and returned a few times now, and the energy of the people here always draws me back. Collaborative and caring - the two c's that Maine artists embody. Between the food, the theater, the film, and the design, who could ever want anything but Portland?

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? Mark Fleming. He's a genius when it comes to photography, and a hell of a guy. Ambitious, creative, and almost more sarcastic than I am. Almost. markflemingphoto.com Shana Natelson. Producer of Speak About It. The non-profit performance group that travels the country teaching our next generations about healthy relationships and consent. She is the bees knees, and the best travel companion anyone could ever ask for. speakaboutitonline.com

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? Eat. Then go eat somewhere. Then grab a snack someplace. Did I mention the food scene here?

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The Salt Exchange. Charlie's food and bourbon selection never fails me. Nor does the orange couch.

What's the most surprising thing about this city? The arts scene. It's alive. Even better, it's thriving. I've seen art and theatre here that rivals any city I've been to. It's incredible to see the passion and creativity of Maine people, and there ability to collaborate with one another, free of ego.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Union Bagel Salt bagels. They're going to kill me one day (because I eat them far too often), but I haven't had one like it since NYC. The best part is, I didn't have to wait in line for an hour for it either. Portland > NYC.
