We've been establishing a nice lap around the city for visitors: Local 188 for cocktails or brunch, a walk through downtown, a ferry to Peaks or a mailboat run, cocktails and oysters at Eventide, coffee at Tandem and a pop-in visit to Bunker Brewing particular order, vehicle optional.

...warm summer night. Dinner with friends at the Front Room on Munjoy Hill, strolling down the hill to the Snug for a pint of ale, continue to the Old Port to see Lyle Divinsky lay down some serious soul funk at the Big Easy!

Walk It Out

Take a look at the Back Cove path on any given day, or the collective mileage covered during an average First Friday Art Walk, and it's easy to see that the peninsula is pedestrian friendly. Especially when visitors are in tow, most locals take the time to do things on foot. Of course, with the plentiful beer, wine, and cocktail options in this town, sometimes walking is necessary.

My perfect night woud be with friends on a crisp fall evening. Drinks, dinner, drinks. Being able to walk pretty much anywhere is key; I think we take that for granted.

...see the ballet! And if weather permits, we go on the Segway tours that go through the Prom. We also eat our way through town and go on local bakery scavenger hunts!

Elizabeth Redstone music, Longfellow Books, Scratch Bagels, and challenges to find the best purchase downtown for a dollar are frequently involved.

Easy Entertainment

From music venues (both indoor and outdoor), to shopping, or soaking up local history, there's plenty to see and do in Portland, and it's easy to keep it low-key if you like.

Lots of good nights out in Portland involve a few friends, a few beers at Novare Res, hot noodles at Pai Men Miyake or a few slices of pizza at Otto, and music at SPACE Gallery.
