Steve founded Cooley Design Lab in 2001 in Manhattan and is now located in South Portland, Maine. Some of the studio's most recent projects have included the art direction of Hard Case Crime, a publisher of hardboiled crime fiction, and helping shape the identity of Smithsonian Folkways Recordings’ Spanish-language music packaging.
Steve is a former Creative Director for Perseus Publishing and Da Capo Press, two imprints of the Perseus Books Group. Prior to that, he was the founding Art Director for Houghton Mifflin’s adult trade paperback imprint, Mariner Books. Oh yeah, he's also currently an in-house art director at Kemp Goldberg Partners in Portland.
