Bringing variety performance to life...

Job Manager & Creative Director / Dark Follies, LLC

Lives In East End

I am a writer, dancer, artist and teacher. I am the founder and creative director for Dark Follies, a Portland based goth inspired vaudeville variety show troupe. I perform as a solo performance artist and dancer, and have recently started teaching theatrical belly dance here in Portland, Maine.

I find inspiration nearly everywhere. I live to create...and I can't stop.

I am absolutely in love with Portland, Maine.  I've lived here for nearly two decades; it has become my adopted home town.

Why did you choose Portland? Actually I came to Portland because I had nowhere else to go and it welcomed me with open arms. I am in love with this city. I often say that I have adopted it as my hometown but in many ways I feel as though it has adopted me.

Who are Portlanders you admire and why? There are too many to list! I greatly admire the fellow members of Dark Follies who are willing to work very hard to make this shared vaudeville vision we all have come alive. Former Portlander Aepril Shaile, my first belly dance teacher. Rosa Noreen, another fellow dancer and founder of Bright Star World Dance. Jodi McColman, local actor. Pete Witham, musician and song writer....and too many more others to name!

What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I love to show them the fabulous restaurants and nightlight that Portland has. There are so many great places to eat and experience live music here.

Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? The Western Cemetery. It is old and sadly declining but it is also peaceful, beautiful and full of history.

What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Martinis at The Bar of Chocolate!

Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? Pretty much any music venue in Portland!
