Lives In The West End
I graduated from Maine College of Art in 2005 with a BFA in printmaking, moved to Oakland, CA for a few years, came back, went to India for a while, then landed my dream job at SPACE Gallery. I can't complain!
Why did you choose Portland? Portland is an easy and beautiful place to live. It is small and accessible and allows me to focus on doing what I love to do.
Who are Portlanders you admire and why? My friends! I am lucky to call some really amazing people friends. Chefs, artists, professors, philanthropists, social workers, musicians, writers, surfers, coffee roasters, florists, farmers; I'm truly inspired by every one of my Pine State friends.
What do you like to do with out-of-towners? I like to take them to Scarborough Beach.
Where's your "happy place" on the peninsula? With my dog on the Western Promenade.
What's the most surprising thing about this city? That it is still a best kept secret.
What's your favorite indulgence and where do you find it? Coffee! Tandem Coffee Roasters, East Bayside.
What's the most under-appreciated place or thing in town? This might not win "most under-appreciated", but I bet no one has mentioned the Andrew Shoultz mural that's in East Bayside. That's pretty special.
Describe your perfect night—and the following morning—in Portland. My perfect night would be a show at SPACE followed by a BBQ on my patio with friends. Maybe also a bike ride to the beach and a night time swim. The following morning would need to include Tandem Coffee and a walk with the pup.
Do you have a serendipity spot? Where do you always bump into good people? I walk back and forth on Congress St about 100 times a day, so it's usually there that I run into people. Basically, I can't go anywhere without seeing someone I know. This used to be weird to me, but now I love it. It's like an episode of Cheers all the time!
I facilitate professional synergies while crafting and delivering strategic messages.
